To me it isn't. Never said that travelling is a hobby to me.
And why is that so? Cause i travel back and forth from work everyday. The distance is quite big since i live in Kajang. Everywhere is far from my place.
yeah yeah, I'm sure all of us mean travelling in terms of going on holidays. Who doesn't enjoy going for holidays anyway? But a hobby? Not for me either.
Those whom have noticed would be thinking, this guys must be nuts when he says travelling is not his hobby. look at the frequency of his travels!!
I actually started travelling (locally and overseas) since I graduated and started making my own money. Since then, I've been to Pangkor / Lumut (4 times), Gem island, China (twice), Krabi (twice), Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore (twice), Malacca (a couple of times), Ipoh (daytrips), Cameron Highlands, Bali.
Most of them have been short trips: either 1 nighter's or at most 3 nights. My longest trips in this list would have been both my China trips as well as Krabi (all 1 week :-D)
Okay... so now I've just looked back at the list of places above and realised I've only started working in May 2007. And its just May 2010. No wonder my bank account savings have almost vanished into thin air!!
But then again, how many of these places I went is a place I really want to go myself? Only Beijing, Singapore, Phuket, Bangkok and Ipoh. Contrary to what most people believe, I actually plan my holiday destinations based on who is going. Then I'll base my destination on where they would like to go and suggest it to them, hence, a higher likelihood of them saying yes.
If you really ask me where i would like to go, I'd prolly wouldn't have many places, but I'd like great company. With the right person, even a day trip is fun, let alone a long holiday. Heck, I'd even enjoy getting stuck in the traffic jams with them!
Maybe, I just enjoy the company of people who enjoy travelling (if the sentance makes sense to you). As much as I'd love to follow some of my friends halfway across the globe (what could be better than having great company with Stonehenge or Eiffel Tower as the backdrop?)
At the moment, I'm just happy with the quantity of trips rather than blowing most of my money on 1 holiday (partly cause i get to go with different friends :-D)
And the conclusion is that travelling is still not a hobby of mine. Seeing my friends happy when they go on holiday and be with them when that moment occurs, I guess is more valuable than whatever amount we pay in cash.
Boodyboy, out!!!
