Change lifestyle...

Good day,

In the past few days we have heard many ministers giving their 2 cents' worth on how to be prudent with our spending. One asked us to use the spare land at the back of our house, if we have any, to plant vegetables. Should i also start rearing my own chickens? For those who live in apartments, they can choose to plant vegetables using the hydroponic technique. LOL, if i wanted to plant something and benefit from it, i'd plant poppies.

Next, take public transport. Can some1 tell me how should i take the public transport to work, from Sg. Long? if its cost and time effective, i'll take it. Heck, if it takes like 15-20 mins extra per journey i wouldnt mind. After all the population in Sg Long and Bandar mahkota cheras is about 20-30 thousand people. If there is a viable solution it will take at least 5,000 vehicles off the road daily.

The govt has also said it will cut their ministers allowances and holidays. 1st of all opnly cut their allowances by 10%? isn't it a bit too little? After all you guys did increase price by 40% and saved billions. If cutting 10% saves us 2 billion, can you imagine how much we save if it is cut by also 40-50%? wow!! huge amount right?

And what about their paid holidays? i didnt even know that we, as taxpayers are paying for these guys holidays and their families. It used to be to any destination. Now its just Asean and local destinations. They can also fly business class. WTF?!!?!? Our Penang CM takes economy class. Thats leadership by example! Anyways, back to the holidays, who said its much cheaper to travel only ASEAN and local destinations? these are just like smokescreen to cover our eyes. This hotel here in Langkawi charges a minimum amount of U$D600+ a night!!! This hotel chain has about 10 resorts all over South East Asia, so our ministers can actually stay at these places and not spend any lesser amount of money; and maybe even more than ever. The famous Award Winning Pangkor Laut Resort charges about U$D 300+ a night. I can list down a lot of expensive resorts in S.E.A but listing them here wont help any1 (maybe the ministers who stumble upon my blog while looking for nice places to go spend their vacation in S.E.A.). What i'm trying to say is that if i were to pay for my ministers holidays (i know they work very hard for us, so maybe we deserve to pay for their breaks) how about we just give them a fixed amiutn like RM2,000 per vacation. any more exp, they pay themselves.

On the other hand, this seems like a good idea: Employers paying for their employees' vacation. I wonder if my bosses will take a cue from this. Hahahah!!!

Seriously, we should ensure that minister's lifestyle should change. maybe we should reduce the number of police outriders to save fuel. Or maybe no bodyguards at all so they can get stuck in the jams with all of us. Or even, maybe take away all their vehicls and only allow them to use it for official functions. For them to get to work and back home, we shall give them a touch and go card with RM1,000 preloaded inside so they can take bus, lrt or drive their own car to work. ;-p

Wait, what if all of these are implemented in the future? Then becoming a minister wont be so appealing to me anymore... Dammit!!!

What a strange night

Sigh, just when i thought i could have a good night's sleep yesterday night, i didn't. I crashed at about 10pm so i can wake up for my Italy vs Holland match. That 4 hours was a good rest for me as i was damned tired. I caught the match which started at about 2.45am. Man, i was disappointed just like sunday when Roger Federer lost to Nadal in the French open final. This morning's match was just as disappointing because Italy lost 3-0. It wasn't a real thrashing, but the match was lost in the 1st half, when Italy wasn't just good enough. Maybe the Dutch are finally living up to their potential. Looking at the way they played last night, the could lose their nickname as the "best team in the world never to have won a title".

I went back to sleep at about 4.30. And just like the previous night i had this strange dream. This time around i was leaving my cousin's bungalow (same as the one last night) but this time around the bungalow was not as big like the 1 i dreamt yesterday, and the surroundings not as gloomy. this bungalow has a nice little garden in front of it and a small pond as well. In fact, it looks exactly like thier old house in Bangsar, come to think of it.

Ok, so i was leaving the place with my sis and mum when just as they stepped out of the front gate, i noticed 2 pairs of heels at the front of their door. THen 2 chinese girls (1 was slightly tanned; like those mixed chinese malay girls) came out of the house as well. They were both chatting and then one of them mentioned that they cant find their heels. So i walked up to them and pointed out where their heels were. They then thanked me and we walked out of the house. I don't know why but i was attracted to the girl of mixed parentage. And just as we were about to say goodbye, i asked her for her name. She said before she gave me her name she would like to inform me that she's not into a relationship because she's going overseas to further her studies. So i told her, whats wrong with being just friends? Not every guy who wants to be friends with a girl want to tackle her, i said (Which at this point wasn't true cause i was attracted to her).

And so we introduced each other (and of course being forgetful me, i almost immediately forgot her name, even in my dream!!). So i was stuck in an awkward situation, trying to frantically remember her name, while talking to her. Then both of them said they were busy and needed to leave. So the girl wrote her number on a piece of paper and asked me to call her. She asked if i was free on a weekend for dinner. so i said yes, and she said, just the two of us. And i said, sure, thats a great idea. Then i kept that piece of paper in my car and i drove back.

Thats when i woke up. Now here's the strange part: in my dream, i was already in a relationship. And yet although it was just an attraction to this girl, i still said yes to having dinner with her alone. And in that dream, i knew i had a date with my girlfriend on weekend, which i planned to cancel just to have dinner with this girls. And the strangest thing is that while all of this was going on, i can see my self from a 3rd person's perspective, and thinking to myself. What the hell was i thinking?!?!?

Well, now it got me thinking, maybe it doesnt mean a thing, but my dreams are strange. And i hardly dream, but for the past 3 nights i've been dreaming now. Gosh, i wished to have those dreamless nights again...

Strange dreamZzz....or is it nightmare?

A very good Monday to all of you. Hope its the beginning of a great week for all of us despite this Friday being the 13th day of the month.

Anyways, back to the title of my blog, i've had very strange dreams for the past 2 nights. On saturday night, i dreamt that i was out eating with my colleagues (i only remember 2 of them here, KNO and FE, strangely) at a coffeeshop. i went to order a "mun yee mee" dish from a hawker and then i waited for my food. Soon, all my colleagues finished their food 1 by 1. Wondering if the guy had forgotten my order, i went over to the stall and was surprised to find it closed. Scratching my head, i turned away and then the stall owner shows up and offers to fry the plate of noodles for me. I declined his offer and decided to look for other foods. I walked past a stall selling Wanton Noodles and i ordered it dry with roast pork. Just when i was about to settle back into my seat, I woke up. Damn! never got a chance to eat my roast pork.

It got me wondering why i had this dream. Maybve because during my cousin wedding ceremony, i didnt get to eat the roast pork that was served because it ran out very fast. Yes, that could be the reason. There was too many people and there wasn't enough roast pork to go around. By the time i got to it, there was nothing left. Well anyway, that sunday morning, or shall i say afternoon, we decided to have wanton noodle swith roast pork at my place after i told my mother about my dream. Haha! i'm sure that beats dreaming about eating it ;-p.

Dream #1
The dream i had last night was also strange, in my 1st dream, i dreamt that somebody wanted to steal my laptop. i chased that "barger" down and got a hold of him. I dont remember how he/she looks like, hell, i cant even remember if its a male or female. But in this case let me assume he's a guy. This guy then turned around and stabbed be with a chopstick or ice-pick or something like that. He stabbed me twice, once in the gut and the 2nd time on my chest. Surprisingly, i did not die lah... i took that thing and stabbed him back, to which then he died. I then felt a bit of pain (maybe a rush of adrenaline keeping the pain away?) but then i staggered for help. Then i woke up from my dream in the middle of the night.

Dream #2
Then in my second dream, i dreamt i went to visit a friend's house. I dont remember who this friend is no face and name at all. But i went to her house to ask for some money (OMG, this is trange, me being so broke that i actually have to ask for money. I borrowed this friend money and so i decided to ask her to return it to me. She then laughed at me and mocked me. Then she said to me,"who ask you so stupid lend me in the 1st place?!?!?" then i told her that i borrowed her the cash in good faith and now she is not keeping up to her promise of repaying me. Her boufriend, which was standing beside me then laughed at me saying that i was stupid to believe people so easily. I was shocked at their behaviour. What happened next i dont knwo cause i woke up for a second time last night. Dammit!! The dreams are not helping me sleep better.

Dream #3
Then in my third dream, my cousin invited me and my sis over to his house. when we enetered into his super huge house, we followed him as he gave us a tour. Then after a while we lost sight of him. We kept onw alking round and round looking for him, and passing several rooms over and over again. then after walking for another half an hour, we finally found him on the second floor living room. Then he told us that since it was late, we should put up a night in his place. so he lud us to a room, with 2 huge super king sized beds. We then went back to the living room aain to chat with him while watching tv. ZAfter that we went to our room to sleep, just as i was about to sleep, i jumped out of the bed.

****************

My alarm clock rang, its was already 5.55am. Damn, i felt just as tired as before i slept. I snoozed it hoping to get a few more minutes of rest but it wasn't of much help already.

Now here i am, sitting, and wondering what the dreams meant. Does it spell bad times for me? or is it a sign that there are worse things happening to my personal life soon? Or am i feeling insecure? Any1 care to give me their feedback?

I just hope that i'll get better rest from tonight onwards.

Recent headlines in the newspaper

I'm sure by now most of you are beginning to suffer from the effect of the fuel price increase. yes, the moment we started our engines this morning, a whole new world of pain is inflicted on us. I dont know many of you spent a lot of time trying to fill up your tanks yesterday, but luckily for me, i already fuelled up in the morning. however, i was not spared from the the mad rush to the gas stations yesterday night.

i went home at about 7.30 last night and it took me more than 1.5 hours to reach home. the mad rush for petrol caused massive jams everywhere in KL. The federal highway was jammed. then the 50 cents toll before cheras was also jammed Then as far as my eyes could see, even the cars cant move out of the toll boths after paying because it was jammed after it as well. OK, so that sucked. Later when i was driving into my housing area, the only access road into Sg. Long, there was also a jam as the queues for the petrol station spilled onto the main road. So yes, it kinda sucked to be on the road yesterday.

OK. I'm now surfing on The Star's website looking at the news headlines. There are certain articles which caught my attention. The one which i will comment on is of course the article on the fuel price increase, which can be found here. below are excerpts from the article and my comments.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the new prices were still at a 30-sen per litre discount from market prices.
In other words, if the market price is RM3 per litre, Malaysians will be charged RM2.70 at the pump. He said the price would be adjusted monthly based on the global oil price."

- This fixed subsidy system makes sense. Cant argue about it.

Malaysians still pay lower than the market prices as far as petrol is concerned,” he told a packed press conference when announcing the restructuring of the subsidy package.
Abdullah said that although the restructuring would result in consumers having to pay more, prices were still lower compared with Singapore and Thailand
."

- Yes but these countries that pay more are countries which dont produce oil. Look at this article in Malaysia Today, which shows us this graph: ... DOH!! I cant find the article anymore. oh well, what was mentioned that the price in petrol for oil producing countries were generally under RM1.00 per litre. Can you imagine that!?!
***EDIT**** Ok i found the article here. Enjoy!!!

Our effort is certainly not an attempt to be popular but we try our best to help the people. We cannot satisfy everyone,” he said.
Abdullah said demand for public transport would go up with the rise in fuel prices and the Government was currently addressing the need to improve services.
He reiterated that the public should make changes to their lifestyle, saying they must ensure there was no wastage in resources such as water, energy and food.
He said if certain adjustments were made, the public would not be “too badly affected by price increases
”.

- Congratulations, u certainly have become less popular. and not only can you NOT satisfy everyone, u cant hardly satisfy any1. Thanks for downgrading my lifestyle from economy rice to roti canai (even roti canai not cheap nowadays) Hmm... wat adjustments should i make to ensure i dont suffer so much? move to somewhere inside klang valley, where the property prices will kill me? downgrade my 1,300 cc car to kancil to save petrol (wont save by much, plus not as safe), or the worst option, take a motorcycle to work? (public transport not an option for those staying in Sg. long)

"He said the hike in fuel prices would cause a projected increase in inflation of around 4% to 5%. It would also have an impact on the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth but was confident that it could be maintained at 5% this year."

- hahaha!!! what a joke!!! petrol price goes up by 40%, thats already an inflation. and on average most food products (which we spend quite heavily on) will at minimum go up by 10%. But of course we know most hawkers and restaurants will jack up more than that. Do you think they will increase your wan tan mee by 35 sen if it used to be RM3.50? Maybe not. maybe they will increase it to Rm4.00. Heck, even my old car park management company has raised their season parking rates by about RM 15-20. Thats more than 10% increase for something that doesnt even have any of its cost directly related to the price of petrol.

OKOK... thats enuff on this piece of news.

On to other news today, guess what?

- Price of cooking gas delivery will increase (LPG did not increase though, thank god)
- Electricty rates will go up (for businesses and factories. Minister says it wont affect us, i say bullsh!t!!!)
- ceiling price of chicken lifted (meaning more expensive chickens)

So yes, we are all royally screwed. All these price increases on the same day of the fuel price hike. Who knows what will happen a week or a month from now? Maybe PM knows he's a goner, so he's taking revenge and punishing the rakyat for not giving BN the vote of confidence in March. All i can say is that i see very much bleaker days ahead for all malaysians. More kiasu ppl will appear (can't blame them). less yumcha sessions, if got it will be the case of who is going to pick who up? car pools, hehehe.

Even Yours Truly, who is no longer a miserly fellow (my nickname in primary school) will now behave a bit more scroogely than he used to. Sigh...
