Preview of Murderer, Thanks to Nuffnang

I was one of the few lucky people to managed to get tickets to the premiere of the latest thriller to hit the Cantonese movie scene.

Murderer stars Heavenly King Aaron Kwok, the delectable Janine Chang, Eddie Cheung and Josie Ho.
The delectable and cool Janine Chang

This is a short synopsis taken from GSC's website:

Ling (Aaron Kwok) is a self-assured Police Chief Inspector. He solved numerous difficult cases, has a flawless track record, and is nominated for a major promotion. He has a gentle wife, an adorable son and a posh lifestyle. In every sense, he is as enviable as he is successful. His perfect life takes an abrupt turn when, on one of his operations, he faints and wakes up to discover his short-term memory is damaged, and his top colleague mercilessly killed in the same building. Ling's colleague is the third victim of a cold-blooded serial murder. Each time, the victim dies a slow death in unimaginable pain. At the height of his life, Ling encounters this most vicious murderer in Hong Kong's crime history. He must catch the killer at all costs. But as Ling sifts through the clues, he finds that all the evidence point towards himself!

My take on the movie: If you read the synopsis, its sounds really interesting right?
The movie is 2 hours long. I would say that for the 1st three-quarters of the movie, went fairly well. The suspenses and acting carried the movie. Although I hope there would have been more gore in the movie, it didnt. But since it's a thriller and not a horror movie, it's fine. Aaron Kwok seemed to have played his role quite well as did his co-stars.

THe last half an hour though, was a bit strange. The twist in the movie i thought was creative, but somehow, they took the creativity part a bit too far. Some of the things that was told seemed too far fetch that it wouldn't be believable anymore. It was unfortunate as when the twist was revealed together with the overblown storyline, many of the cinemagoers didnt take the movie seriously after that. But in my opinion, the show picked up again after the twist (thank goodness!). I have to say that for storyline, I'd give it 7.5 out of 10. THe acting, I thought by the cast was great, and again, I'm glad to see Aaron Kwok playing this roles more than the pretty boy gets the girl roles.
A caveat though, if you dislike Aaron Kwok, avoid this movie. This movie is about him trying to recollect his memory, hence the focus is on him. However, do give it a chance as I think the storyline is quite good. Oh also, the movie can be quite distubring, well, for me at least. I elft the cinema feeling disturbed...

Hopefully, I'll get the chance to win more tickets from Nuffnang in the future!!! Hehehe!!!

Join the Pact with Mika Hakkinen and I

** EDITED: Its actually 12th September instead of 13th September in my post. Changes have been made***

Now we all know who Mika Hakkinen is. If you don't you can do a Wikipedia search on him and you will know that he is one of the greatest racers of our time.

But what is "Join the Pact"? "Join the Pact" is a responsible drinking campaign launched by Johnny Walker. Their aim is to stop and discourage people from the dangerous habit of drinking and driving. And Mika Hakkinen is their Global Responsible Drinking Ambassador.

This "Join the Pact" Initiative was launched on the 18th of August currently, other than Mika and I, even Lewis Hamilton and joined the pact; along with more than 40,000 people so far.

I have never been known to my friends as a drinker, more of a joker. But drinking and driving is no joke, especially when you are still very much under the influence of alcohol. Even if you are an irresponsible person, and may not care for your safety, there are lots of other drivers on the road that care for theirs. Please respect them by only driving when you are sober.

If you aren't sober enough to drive, make sure that you have a designated driver among your friends that is willing to drive you home safely. If it may seem unfair, then you and your friends may actually take turns to become the designated driver.

We already have enough trouble in our lives with famine, natural disasters and worldwide epidemics. We do not need to add another problem of drink-driving in the list of fatalities. This can easily be avoided and it is possible to fully eliminate this.

Now, I do hope that all my fellow readers will join me and Mika Hakkinen to make a pact to never drink and drive. You can do so on this website. Make the pact, keep yourself safe. Keep every1 else on the road safe as well.

Now here's a special incentive for you to join the pact as well. For those who sign up on the webpage, you will receive a certificate by email of your pact and you may paste in on your Facebook or any other site for that matter. Spread the Word!!

Once you are done joining the pact, you are automaitically to be in the running to win tickets to watch the Singapore Grand Prix 2009!!! Now how cool is that?!?! So come on, what are you waiting for?!?! (Hehehe... I know, I know!! Its very the exciting now isn't? :-p)

Next thing to note, Mika Hakkinen will be coming down to Malaysia as part of this campaign 12th September 2009 at Sunway Pyramid. And coming along with him is....

A Join The Pact (JTP) Super car!!! Yes, Mika will be there to give a demo in the 3.5 litre, V8 engine. It can go from 0-100mph in less than 5 seconds!! Thats 1 heck of an awesome car!!! Be there, in Sunway Pyramid on the 12th of September to hear its engine purr at the start; later it will roar and blow your mind away when Mika gets his foot on the gas pedal!

If you guys want evidence that I have joined the pact, I will post my certificate up here :-)

Now, its your turn to Join the Pact! And why not? it will save a lot of lives and gets you a chance to catch the Singapore Grand Prix 2009 live! Not good enough? How about the chance to meet Lewis Hamilton, 2 invites to the Singapore GP Johnny Walker Party and accomodation as well? And more! Mika Hakkinen himself will be here just to get your support for this campaign! What more reason could you possibly need? Join the Pact now!!

Just before I sign off, this music video reminds us of the pain it causes to everyone who is involved in a drink-driving incident. Its very moving and emotional It's Simple Plan's Untitled.
Watch and make the vow that it shall never happen to us or any1 we know and care for.

Who wants to have a free meal at either a Japanese Restaurant or International restaurant with me?

Hi all,

I've been lucky enough to have managed to win a RM150 voucher for food at either a Japanese restaurant or an International restaurant at a International hotel in KL.

Now I wont reveal where it is, but I will say that in the event the bill is over the RM150 amount, we shall split the amount OK? I'm a poor working class citizen lah... If i could afford I would belanaja makan, hehehe.

While I'm not a very big fan of Japanese food, I won't mind trying it at this place.

So now, all I'm looking for is a person who would like to have a meal with me. While I doubt I will get many responses from this blog post, I do hope that I get lots more favourable responses, hahaha!!

Now, any1 who would like to have a meal with me should just reply to this post. Of course, being a sexist and chauvinist, I'm only opening this to all females only. Now I realise I might not the be the hottest catch in town, but I am only looking for some good food and good times to be spent with a friend. Of course, dinner will be with me and the chosen friend.

Yes, it sounds like a very desperate way of meeting girls, but after thinking for sometime, I jsut thought I might try something different for once and see what will happen. This may or may not work at all, but hey, who cares? I amy even sound like I'm a MCP, but let give this a try, eh.

Anyways, reply away girls!! (If any...)

A Special Tribute to...

My handphone. Why a special tribute to it all of a sudden?

Because I just realised my phone is already more than 5 years old!!
Can you imagine that?!? How many of you, fellow readers and bloggers alike, are still using a phone that is 5 years old? And not just as a spare phone. Its has been my primary and only phone for 5 years. And you guys must be wondering, what phone model is it that can last 5 years without any major problems? Its a Nokia 6670, one of the earliest smartphones launched by Nokia.

It has served me very well. And its still going strong actually, despite its age. Although sometimes it does act up, I can't really blame it. After all, in handphone years, its probably equivalent to 90 human years. Yes sometimes my calls will drop. sometimes i can't hear the calls clearly, sometimes the caller can't hear me at all. And sometimes, no calls get through to me. But everytime I'm tempted to get a replacement, it works just fine again.

And the strange thing is that I've never bothered to give it a name despite us being close together for 5 years. Yes, my phone was the closest thing to my body for the past 5 years, something girls who go ga-ga over me could only dream of. LOL! The last line was a joke.

Well, today I shall give a toast to my phone, which, together with me, has shared many words of joy, despair, anger, gratitude and all other feelings for the past 5 years. Its has allowed me to communicate with all my loved ones and friends shared many moments which i still cherish. messages that were sent conveyed all types of feelings, but I choose to remember all the best moments I had.

While I now ponder on whether I should retire it after 5 years of wonderful service, or allow it to continue serving me until it reachs the end of its life cycle. My favourite phone to replace my trusty old 6670 is the Nokia E52 which was released just this month. Its also a smart phone, which i think is a 5th generation smartphone from Nokia. The first generation generation is of course my dear 6670.

Well below will be a quick description of my Nokia 6670 taken from Wikipedia.

****************************

The Nokia 6670 is a 2004 smartphone from Nokia. Based on the Series 60 platform, the phone is a tri-band business version of the consumer Nokia 7610, and features a 1.0 megapixel digital camera, 8MB of storage (as well as RS-MMC expansion slot) and a 65,536 colour 176x208 TFT screen. Software includes viewers for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files, a full HTML compatible web browser, and a GPS-like application that generates positioning information from the GSM cell data. The Series60 platform allows for many programs to be added, and also with the inclusion of Java Apps and Games. Its 123 MHz ARM-9 processor can handle many applications at a time, and it can calculate 16000 fibonacci numbers in 35 seconds, as calculated using FPC Bench.

*****************************

Anyways, I shall continue to use my 6670 until the day I decide to retire it.

The Barclays Premier League season is about to begin

Thank goodness for football fans like me. We have been bereft of some really good foot ball action for about 2 months now. And come this weekend, we, the guys will have a reason to stay home!! Woohoo!! Money saved!!

Now talking about the latest season, I'll try my best to give an honest opinion on the coming 2009/2010 season. No doubt I'm a Red Devils fan, but this is what i really think. Might still be slightly Biased though. Oh also, This is also what i feel after watching the first episode of Football Focus on ESPN earlier.

These are my picks for the Top 4 places in the league:

1. Manchester United. While MU have lost both Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, they have reinforced the squad with a few names. The most notable would be Owen and Valencia. Now we have lost a total of over 50 goals from 2 players last season. I have no doubt that these 2 new signings will not be able to score that many goals between them. But I do feel that they still have a strong enough squad to win the league. To win the league means to get the most points playing against all teams in the same division. While MU maybe weaker, and looks easier to defeat against the rest of the top 4, I think they are capable of defeating all the other teams while snatching a few point from the top 4.

2. Chelsea. I believe that Carlo Ancelloti will have his work cut out for him this season. If he doesnt win a thing, he's going out the window. Although they may not have any big name signings, Ancelloti has the management acumen to get the best out of his players while playing a new formation. Lampard in the his enw position behing the 2 strikers will be dangerous, just like Paul Scholes in his heydays. They have an already strong squad but i feel they may not be able to win the league this year as the African Nations Cup in December will leave them without their top players like Drogba and Essien.

3. Liverpool. While they may have made lots of money selling Xabi Alonso, I dont think Glen Johnson and Alberto Aquilani will do much to boost its squad strength. While Liverpool has quite a big squad, but they do not have many match winners in there. If they can overcome their over reliance on Stevie G and Torres then they maybe able to be champions or at least challenge for the title. I think Xabi Alonso will be a big loss to them as he is a great passer of the ball. Aquilani, on the other hand, maybe a good young player with lots of potential, but it is also a lot of unfulfilled potential. Unless he can step up to the plate and adapt very well to the English league, he may not have much of an impact this season.

4. Arsenal. They have effectively lost the chance to win the title several years ago when they sold Vieira and then Henry and then Eduardo and then.... the list goes on and on. This season they have sold Kolo Toure and Adebayor. And full back Phillipe Senderos seems to be on his way out. Looking at their squad, they are very lightweight. Even more lightweight than last year. While they may have some of the brightest prospects in the league playing for them, but I dont think the team has enough mental strength to pull through the tough times. If there is any team that could replace another team from the big 4 this season, i would think that it could be Tottenham or Man City. ANd the team they are most likely to replace? Arsenal. I really feel sorry for Arsenal fans. They should and can do better, but they aren't moving forward.

Anyways, thats my analysis for the top 4 this season. May come up with more as the days go by.

Korean Food @ Ko Hyang, The Gardens/Midvalley

Hi all,

Here I am, just back from dinner with a colleague of mine.

Name of the place is called Ko Hyang. Its located at the lower ground level of The Gardens mall. Just take the escalator down at Coach and you will see it on your left.

Its a pretty small place, and when i reached the place at 8.15pm, the place was still packed. There wasn't even a place to sit. And i was thinking to myself, I've been to Midvalley and The Gardens so often, how come I've never noticed this place?

My colleagues said that the food here is good, and judging by the crowd at 8.15pm, I have a cause to believe what she said. So we waited awhile and then decided to just sit on the long table on the counter. The kitchen area was very small and I can see 7 people inside working cook and clean at the same time. 2 of them were older Korean people, which i presume are a Husband and Wife team as they are both Koreans while the restaurant area is manned by a younger Korean woman, which i presume her to be the owner's daughter since they have some resemblances.

Since we were not really hungry, I just ordered the Chicken cooked with chilli and vegetables and green tea. THat is one of the more common Korean food and I must say it was pretty well done. They served brown rice with my food and it was so good I had extra helpings of rice. The Side vegetables, i don't know what its called, was a combination of kimchi, ikan bilis with chilli and cucumber kimchi i think. They tasted pretty good (but since i'm not a fan of Korean food, i can't really judge) and basedon my research on other food blogs, the other bloggers seems to agree that the food there is pretty good and authentic.

For less than RM20, i think its quite a good deal for Korean food and looking by the amount of people at the restaurant, i think they agree with me.

I liked the food, the price, the "ambience" (if u go there you will know what i mean ;-p) and also the good company.

If you are in the area and you happen to hungry, give the place a try!

Boodyboy, out!!

I've got a feeling~~ :-)

This song has been on the airwaves for a couple of weeks now and I find it really uplifting.

The perfect woman for any man

This topic came out randomly during a yumcha session with my friends earlier today. There was also a bunch of useless topics that came up, and although this one was a short 1, me and a friend totally agreed while the other 2 didnt have any comment. (For those who can read this in FB, if you agree, "like" this post, so at least i can gauge the response.

Now what is the answer to the title of this post?

The perfect person for any man, in my humble opinion, is a woman, who is smarter than the man.
But not just as simple as that. Its how she uses her "smart-ness" (sorry, i cant seem to think of a better word at the moment ;-p) towards the person she loves.

We all know that in general, men are egoistic creature. They may not exude that characteristic to everyone, but for the person they love, they feel that it is important that they can provide what ever the woman needs. Now we all know men aren't perfect, much as I'd like to think so. There are many a times there are things that we can't do or help, and if she gets help from some1 else without asking us 1st, we might feel hurt. No doubt we may not be able to help, but i think most guys want to be the "go to" guy. To be bypassed hurts our ego, makes most of us feel inadequate.

Now this is where the smart woman comes into play. She knows how to take care of her man's ego. She knows how to use the rights words to say to make him feel good. She knows what he wants to hear and so she says it. This applies to anything that needs fixing or a simple problem. Even if the woman can solve the problem herself, she will ask for the guys opinion eventhough she knows the right things to be done. He, on the other hand, feels damn proud to be to "go to" guy and giveshis opinion. And when the situation is fixed, he feels great, thinking that he had just helped the love of his life with a difficult task.

I wonder if you guys can see where I'm getting at. I feel that the perfect woman for all of us, is much smarter than us, just that in a way that we don't know. She will make us feel like we are the smartest, most helpful, most knowledgeable person in the world, her knight in shining armour. And the thing is, we may never know that at all. Most women, unlike most men (i mentioned most, not every1), tend to be more self sacrificial and are willing to take a step back and let others have the glory (that is why we have housewives, and women as nurses and etc).

No doubt I dont mean that women have to be PHD holders or anything, she just has to use it is such a manner that we men may never know. She will say things we want to hear, and ask us for advice or ask us to help them. We will of course, help them and thump our chests later like King Kong with our own guy friends at the bar later.

As you can see, we men are simple creatures, and although some people seeit as a joke that men only like women who loves sex and sports, that is not true. If u just think about it a little deeper, its just women who are willing to sacrifice a lot for us, and without us ever knowing it.

To the women who are doing that now, I salute you! Its not easy, I'm certain, but there lots of things we will always do for our loved ones and this is one of them.

For those who don't know it, re-read the above again. Its really that simple. Guys are even easier to understand than cats (to those who think its easier to live with 15 cats than a single man).

Again, if you agree (On Facebook, like this post), leave a comment here. Well it applies even if you disagree, i would like your opinion on this :-)
