Well, last week, there was a diving expo in KL. I guess the market for diving now is getting bigger by the year. So much so that the number of visitors has grown by a huge amount. A lot of people are also beginning to take up diving licences (PADI or others so they can go diving in the open sea.
With a beautiful corals in several islands in Malaysia, there is no doubt why this country is a diving haven.
OK now, here's the subject of this post today. This is of course, entirely my view and opinion. I really wonder and suspect if the vast majority of the people taking up diving now are truly enthusiasts or just doing it because someone else has done it and its like the coolest thing to tell people. I know there are times when people go,"I just got back from my diving trip in X Island and it was great." Then every1 will be like "Whoa... thats so awesome!" shit like that lah. They will then go boast about how they got their licence or try to correct another person who, so happens to have a diving licence as well.
i mean if you are truly passionate about diving then i've got nothing against you. You probably (must) care about marine conservation and stuff like that. But those who just go diving for the sake of showing off will go like, oh yar... i've seen that fish before, in front of me.
Maybe its just me being sour grapes. Maybe its because i take up boring sports like golf, badminton and football, which every1 else does (well not golf). Can you imagine when i tell people i made par on the golf course, and people will be like what? Look i dont care about a boring game like golf. But when it comes to diving, people are like, whoa, its like watching Animal Planet in real life.
Of course i know its always better to see things in real life than on tv lah... but don't go get the damn licence just to show off. If u like to dive then you can dive without the licence also can, why do you need the licence. most of the places you go will also have a dive master to help you anyway (I'm probably being very ignorant now). Oh well, my point is that, don't go and blow that few thousand bucks just to get the licence to show off lah.
Damn, i feel grouchy this morning. Must be because of this damn flu which i had just caught yesterday. Now my nose is leaking like a faucet. Dammit! anyways, i think thats my rant for today. enjoy the weekend
