Pardon the long layoff from the blog. I had something like a blogger's constipation over the past few weeks. I've also been suffering from constipation of the gastro-intestinal kind. And since i just, well, erm, de constipated myself just now, my mind has also started to work again.
As i was recently planning on going on a relaxing, laid back holiday, i researched high and low for places that would give me total relaxation. I hope that this will be a good guide for those who have been searching high and low for a private place to take thier lvoed ones or just escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
Of course, some of these places I'll mention here are for those without budget constraints. As for the rest of us, there are still choices which i have found over the course of the past 3 months. Do ntoe that some are budget places, while most are a bit on the pricey side. But hey, there's gotta be a price for privacy and seclusion, right?
So, I'll cover most of the local destinations to the best of my knowledge. These are islands with only 1 resort on it. Some will be on a private stretch of beach on an island.
They are in no particular order, well i'm typing those which i can remember lah... (click for the link of the resorts).
1. Pulau Pemanggil , Johor I heard about this place recently but only realised it was a private resort when i visited the recent Matta Fair. Its located somewhere near Pulau Tioman in Johor. About 1 hours boat ride from the Mersing Jetty.
2. Rebak Marina Resort, Langkawi This little island resort is located 5km west of Langkawi. It has its own private marina for those who love yachting and boating.
3. The Datai, Langkawi This hotel is located on the main island of Langkawi itself, but it has its own private beach on the Datai Bay, North West of Langkawi. This resort is rated #1 on TripAdvisor.
4. The Andaman, Langkawi This is also operated by the same company of the Datai. The GHM hotel owns the only accomodation available on the same beach. The Andaman however, is the slightly cheaper option of the 2.
5. Pangkor Laut Resort, Perak THis resort is located on a private island nearby to the famous Pangkor Island in Perak. Owned by YTL group, this hotel is famous for once being the favourite choice of the legedary opera singer, Luciano Pavarotti. So much so, that the resort has decided to name one of its villas after him.
6. Pangkor Island Beach Resort, Perak If you want privacy in pangkor Island but can't afford the earlier mentioned resort, fret not. This resort is located on a private stretch of beach on the North West side of the Pangkor Island. And it is more affordable for those on a tight budget. Beach side dinner with a sunset view is guaranteed when dining in the resort.
7. Gem Island, Terengganu This resort is the only resort on Gem island, or Pulau Gemia in the local language. It is about half an hour's boat ride from the jetty of Marang. It is also located only about 800m from Pulau Kapas, hence it is possible to kayak over there for a day trip. This resort even has its own turtle hatchery to raise awareness on the conservation of turtles.
8. Pulau Layang-Layang, Sabah This Island is owned by Avillion, Part of the Reliance Group. The island is located 300km North East from Sabah and the only way to get there is by flying in on its private airline. The resort is famous for its diving areas as well as its bird sanctuary. It is only open from March to August every year.
9. Mataking Island, Sabah This resort's tagline is "2 islands, 1 resort". Well these 2 islands are stuck together and seperated by a very shallow sea. One can walk from 1 island to the other during low tide. This place is located about 1.5 hours from Semporna. It is located around the same area as Pulau Sipadan, the diving Mecca in the world.
10. Bagus Place, Pulau Tioman This resort is located on a private beach on Pulau Tioman. Wholly owned by foreign nationals, there are only 5 types of accomodation available here.
11. Pulau Tenggol, Terengganu THis is another East Coast island. Its located slightly south of Terengganu. To get to the island, you need to depart from Dungun jetty. Pulau Tenggol is famous for its wonderful dive sites.

After another long lay-off from the blog, I'm back! Actually, I finally have an idea of what to blog about after suffering from "blogger's block" (hey, it rhymes!!).
The sense of touch, is one of the 5 senses we humans have. Well of course, I'll argue that there are 6, but some people do not have the 6th, which is common sense ;-).
Touch, to people of the Asian culture is something that is really cherished as we have always been taught to be respectful and humble. We usually restrict or are more careful espescially when it comes to physical contact with strangers or someone of the opposite sex. This, we can always see, has been portrayed in countless Asian films.
To many Asians, me included, touch is something very unique and special. While I know that people today are more modern in their thinking and behaviour, I'm still slightly conservative when it comes to physical contact with others.
Some people will no issues hugging, kissing their friends as it is a custom in some Western countries that has been readily accepted here. I'm not saying its wrong, but I feel reserved, maybe because of this Asian mentality i still have inside of me.
I have always regarded touch as something really special and I don't really fancy hugging my friends (at least not the close ones) or accidentally brushing against strangers. Its not that I'm unfriendly but i feel that if i were to hug a person, that person should really mean something to me. But sometimes, I'm rather reserved when it comes to even had shakes as some people might have reservations as we do live in a luti ethnic country. Sometimes i dont know which stance to adopt, the really open style or the reserved style of "contact".
Yes Physical Contact means a lot to me. Even a touch of a hand, a hug, or a kiss, means the world to me. To give and receive the above actions allows me to show how much some people mean to me and vice versa. For me the usual handshake is usually reserved for acquaintances of friends which i'm not really close to. And usually among business associates as well.
I really didnt fully appreciate physical contact and realised the importance of it until about a year or two ago. Which is strange because i thought, its not a big deal. A hug is just a hug, its doesnt mean anything. When couples hold hands, they just do it because thats what other ppl do.
So yes, i realised the importance of touch, esp from the ones you are especially close to. It tells the world of how people feel towards each other. Looking at how they behave around each other will also give us clues. Just google this subject up, and you will find lots of articles and research about physical behaviour of people with another person. There are even studies on how different kisses mean to people. Even the way people hold each other's hands tells a story.
And while I maybe reserved when it comes to contact with people i'm not that close, that doesnt mean i dont yearn for them. handshakes, Hugs, Kisses, eye contact, smiles, mean the world to me. I crave to have those as often as i can everyday in my life. Sometimes i feel that even a simple touch, or eye contact is enough to get me buzzing and energetic.
Yes, eariler in my previous posts, i have mentioned words are important to me. So is touch. I guess in the end i will go through all the other 3 senses as well, hahaha! There are no "unimportant" senses. All are equally useful to us.

This would be difficult. I'm not sure if i can find 25 random things to say about myself... Well here goes:
1. I used to sleep on my left side only. Then pimples started growing on 1 side of my face. So now, i've learnt to sleep on both sides.
2. There are times when i'm so tired i sleep on 1 side the whole night long and when i wake up, the hand which i've been sleeping on (usually left ;-p) is so numb and deprived of blood flow that i can swing my arm around like a bolster!!
3. Once in a long while, i drool when i sleep (god knows who i must be dreaming of ;-p)
4. I'm a big fan of football, but yet i'm not really good at it. On the other hand, I'm not that big of a badminton fan but I play better than average.
5. When i go into the washroom, i usually head for the urinal somehwere in the middle, and preferably doesn't have piss all under and around the urinal (bad aiming!!)
6. I hate people who don't press the flush button after urinating in the urinal, esp those that doesn't have the infra-red detector. Idiots!!!
7. People can tell that i'm sad or about to cry. And they are right. its written all over my face. No wonder i suck at poker...
8. I still wear pyjamas when i go to sleep. Well it used to be everyday, now well, still more often than not lah...
9. I've only had 1 girlfriend so far, but I ain't complaining. It took me 24 years to find her and in the end, I realised I didn't have to find her. She was there all along.
10. I was destined to meet her cause i gave up other higher paying job offers (with maybe better prospects LOL!!) to work in this company where she works as well.
11. I left my previous job for money first, and the challenges second. It's unfortunate since i really loved my old job. I left because of necessity, not because i wanted to. Thank god the people in my new company are just as fun :-)
12. I majored in Business Law and Economics, and my first job was to write wills and distribute deceased people's assets (called estate administration. And I was the "Executor") and now my second job is market research for FMCG. Not really related, as some people may say, but i like to diversify. Oh did I also mention I already finished my Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP) when in my 1st year of work? Well, i'm not in that industry now either!!!
13. I used to pass notes, write on Post-its, send email, sms to her (in No. 9) eventhough she was within earshot! ;-p Wait, we even had lots of the non-verbal signals to signify certain things... I still do the "Pop" sound with my lower lip ;-p
14. Our first "song" together I can say, would be Atilia's Selalu Denganmu, followed by Colbie Callait's Bubbly. We have since, had many other songs but I will always remember these 2. In fact, the most recent song that evokes strong emotions is Ady's Izinkanlah.
15. I drive a relatively brand new white Myvi, which I never wanted in the first place. People ask me if I pay for the car installments. The answer is no. It was a poor substitute. i wanted to buy a house on my own. All i got was a free car :-(.
16. The above statement may make me seem like a spoilt kid, but I wanted to buy the apartment for rental purposes. Now i have a depreciating asset which will not generate any income for me (unless i convert it into a taxi). And i do not plan to convert it into a taxi. Yes, i'm a financial planner...
17. I'm a big Manchester United fan, but my 1st MU jersey with name on it has Rooney printed on the back... I currently have 5 MU jerseys (6 cause of of them is reversible) and 1 MU T-shirt (courtesy of Cindy:-)
18. I won't say when I lost my virginity (if it is even lost ;-p) but i can tell you when i had my 1st kiss. When i was 24 years old. Location: KL Sentral car park (I know, i know, not romantic). I'm not those ppl who likes to get intimate in public parks!!! it was an unintentional one at that! I think i was conned into it ;-p!!
19. My 1st best friend (not that i have had a 2nd best friend) is currently working in Hong Kong for one of the biggest investment banks in the world! I'm extremely proud of him yet envious at the same time.
20. Yet i can brag to him that i have represented my school team in football, not him. I have 2 caps to show for. Although I have to admit he was a better player than me (at that time) he got passed over while i was selected. The only reason why i was selected was because i was one of the few who could kick with my left foot (thanks to worshipping Ryan Giggs).
21. I miss every1 that used to work in my old company and the times we used to have together. The genting trip, the many breakfasts, lunches and dinners we had together. Watching "Transformers" together and other movies (Transformers 2 will be out soon. We should plan to meet and catch the movie together just for old times' sake). Going to Pangkor about slightly more than a year ago. It was like a honeymoon with lots of friends!!
21. I'm always organising gatehring and holidays for me and my friends. It's tiring and frustrating, but when it happens and every1 has a great time, I really happy. Although I'm usually more reserved with a huge crowd (eventhough we are all friends), i just enjoy sitting there and absorbing all that camaderie :-)
22. Both my hands can hardly touch each other if i were to try and stretch them from the back. Neither can i touch my toes (althoug going for Pilates and Hatha Yoga has made it less painful to stretch towards them).
23. I love golf. But its expensive to play. I wished I could play full time like a pro. I'm certain i can be quite a decent player if only i started when i was younger. I beleive i have the talent to make it in this sport ;-p
24. I love my new bed. it cost me a bomb, but everynight since i bought it, i can fall asleep easier. But the problem is that I sleep alone... :-( Having some1 to share this wonderful bed would have been perfect ;-p
25. I feel easier to talk with my female friends than my male friends. Guy talk just doesn't quite suit me. yes, i'm all about the emo-ness and little pettiness ;-p And yes, I'm sensitive. I cried watching Bolt, Ice Age, Madagascar and many other films...
