5 Pictures #1

I've been running dry on ideas recently and this is something I thought of. I will, on and off, post 5 pictures which I took recently that I like. I will then tell the story behind the picture. So how about that? I can now combine my hobby of photography and blogging about recent happenings without sounding like a "this is what i did today" blog ;-p

The pics are of low quality cause I'm afraid of photo piracy issues, hehehe

Rain drops. It's always funny how the weather can affect how we feel.

Wait a minute, this isn't the story for this picture. I'll talk about that later in another post. This picture was taken after multiple times trying to focus with my new camera. As it only has autofocus, sometimes it wouldn't focus on the object I want. Hence the advatage of having a DSLR. But yeah, this camera gives me flexibility and freedom of movement.

I caught the picture I want of raindrops on my car window and bokeh lights at the right end of the picture =)

This panoramic shot was taken at the recent Floria 2010 Festival. Its a floral festival but the picture I chose to share has nothing to do with flowers. It's a picture of my 2 friends from high school, TJ and JL. After almost 10 years together, still going strong =)

Well, about the festival, most of the flowers are the same (the tropical weather kinda limited what we could see). Not much in terms of variety, but I guess a good photographer will be able to snap some really good flower shots anyway

Rev. Thats the new gym I've just joined. Kinda empty right?

Its not your typical gym, I can assure you. The gym practices a method of workout called Crossfit. Click on the link to see how Crossfit helps us in our daily lives. And Click on Rev's link if ur interested to find out more.

Love this place as the workouts are fun. The trainers are very friendly and eager to help.

Alternatively, you can always ask me =)

The World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Finally over and its back to the football withdrawal syndrome. Good thing is that next month is August and the European football season begins!

And oh, congratulations to Spain, for winning the cup. My tip before the tournament began won, muahahahah!!!

Angkor Wat. This is the view from the East Gate. Rarely taken picture. Hence you guys should feel lucky I posted this up ;-p

A place with wonderful history, culture and people.
Definitely a great holiday destination. Once again, you can always ask me for tips about this place if you are planning to go there yourself.

It's a place you gotta go at least once in your life =)

Genting Highlands - The Flora and Fauna

Was up in Genting 2 weekends ago and decided to see the lesser known sights there. Instead of snapping shot from the theme park and etc, I decided to go towards Mother Nature.

These are some of the pictures I took:

Mushrooms at the Mushroom farm. THe Mushroom farm is located somewhere along the road down from Genting towards KL. The roads will lead you from the back of First World hotel to a roundabout, which will have the Mushroom farm signage.

Morning glory blooming as the sun rose and a yellow wildflower with an insect which looks like a bee on it.

Lily of a species which I Do not know

Some of the small insects that caught my eye when I was there. This insect is slightly smaller than half my thumb

I like this Bokeh shot a lot. One of the few times my camera has correctly focused on what I wanted.

Another pink wildflower located near a tortoise pond. You can see the tortoise in the background

Managed to catch a picture if this fly resting on a leaf. Moved in on it as steadily and slowly as I could and this picture was taken with my camera about 2 inches away from it.

Here is a shot of a bee collecting pollen.

More wildflowers! I actually enjoyed looking around the ground and the side of walkways to find these little flowers. And they really look beautiful up close =)

This is my nephew, Anderson. We brought him along to enjoy the cool weather. Of course, he wasn't interested in all the plants and mushrooms. This was what he longed for... Rides at the theme park!!

Anderson, Annie (my cousin/Anderson's mum), my mother, my sister and me.
I've been living with Annie and Anderson for the past month and they are great company every time I come back from work.

A panning shot which I absolutely love because I tried many times and this was the only usable picture. Pity its a bit overexposed though...

This is another panning shot I maged to get while he was on another ride.
ALl in all, it was a good 1 nights trip to Genting and Anderson managed to get his share of rides. For me, it was a chance for me to get myself better acquainted with my new camera.
=)

Moocake Festival Photo Shooting @ Semenyih Dam

Went on a shoot last sunday night. Almost didnt workout as I didnt have any1 to go with me. Plus its about 40 mins ride from my place into pitch darkness. Thank goodness Eyang and my sister decided to tag along!

The pictures below are pretty much what we got for a 2.5 hour photo outing.

This is what we came for. Unfortunately the moon was blocked by the clouds that night. Still bright pictures as we used about 30 seconds shutter speed.

Can you imagine a better picture if the full moon was out that night? The water will be bathed with the moonlight!!

The left picture is just a picture of the cars passing by my car at night. Can see the reflection on the roof of my car! On the right, its some random light drawing i did after I accidentally pressed the shutter button when i had set it to 15 seconds... Was surprised the result turned out to be so artsy fartsy, LOL!
These are actually my fave pics of the night.Long shutter speed with the cars just driving past the emergency triangle. Its actually pitch dark that night! Woots!!

Thats my name. The right picture has the reflection of the writing on the roof of my car. We had 3 cameras and 2 tripods. Figure it out!

Names of the 2 accomplices that went with me. Kristine and Eyang

Doing the "GHOST" picture. Not as romantic shooting this as the Patrick Swayze version. In the left picture, a car drove past while we were in the middle of the shooting while Eyang was busy looking at his pictures in the next pic

Now you know how they make those ghost pictures you regularly receive from your forwarded emails ;-p

More "ghostly effects". The fun part after shooting the dam. =)
Different focus point of the same view. Taken From lookout point

The view of the KL Skyline from Lookout Point

Fellow Kakis trying to capture the KL skyline at Lookout Point

I Feel like going back there again the next time the full moon comes back on a cloudless night. Its sure gonna be magical pictures. If you wanna join me on the next photo outing, drop me a msg.
