Curling (Winter Olympics)

I don't know if there are any of you that catches the Winter Olympics in Vancouver happening right now, but i did catch some highlights of it.

My favourite sport so far has to be Curling.

This is how curling looks like. Its kinda like lawn bowls, but on ice. And the best thing is that features 2 sweepers who vigoroulsy wipe the ice surface to ensure the stones slide smoothly towards the target.

Below is a short description of the game from Wikipedia:

*******************************

Curling is a team Olympic sport in which stones are slid across a sheet of carefully prepared ice towards a target area. It is related to lawn bowling, boule and shuffleboard.

Two teams of four players take turns sliding heavy, polished blue hone granite stones[1] across the ice towards the house (a circular target marked on the ice). The purpose is to complete each end (delivery of eight or ten stones [depending on recreational or competitive play] for each team) with the team's stones closer to the centre of the house than the other team's stones. Two sweepers with brooms or brushes accompany each stone and use stopwatches and their best judgment, along with direction from their teammates, to help direct the stones to their resting place, but without touching the stones.

The current champions Is Actually Canada but, China is catching up really fast and have stunned several big European teams in the round robin matches so far.

Do catch this on TV if you can!

Boodyboy, out!!
