Movie Review: Time Traveller's Wife
Thanks to a very very old friend whom I have not met for a very long time, I got 2 tickets to watch this highly acclaimed movie. After seeing the trailer, i was eagerly anticipating the release of this movie. I couldnt believe my luck when SM told me I could have her tickets to the premier of this movie. SM, if you can read this, thanks a lot! I loved the movie, and I owe you dinner for the great favour! :-D
The movie is based on the best selling novel by American author Audrey Niffenegger. It is a love story about a man with a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel unpredictably, and about his wife, an artist, who has to cope with his frequent absences and dangerous experiences.
The movie is starred by Eric Bana, the Time Traveller and Rachel McAdams who is wonderful as the lover of the Time Traveller.
A damn good looking couple if you ask me. Fans of Eric Bana would be very happy as they would get their money's worth of Eric without clothes. Lots of times. Why? Because when the travels thru time, he cannot bring his clothing along with him ;-p
As for Rachel McAdams, she portrays Clare, the love of his life in the movie, very well. And did I mention she looks great as well?
Wonderful movie with a great storyline, I'd rate it 7 out of 10 :-)
Catch the trailer of the movie below, and if you like it, catch it in the cinemas when it opens!

Movie Review: 500 Days of Summer
Finally got a chance to catch this movie a few days back. This movie is not shown in all cinemas, currently only available at TGV KLCC. Why this is the case, I really don't know. Maybe its the distributorship issue.
Which is such a waste because I think this is one of the best movies I've seen this year if not the best. I'm really torn between this movie and Disney's Up.
THe genre for this movie is romance/comedy. While I agree with the comedy part, i dont think the romance part does it justice. I think its more than just romance. Its a depiction of the roller coaster of emotions a person goes through in a relationship. I would call it relationship/comedy instead.
Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel are great in this movie as the lead characters. Great chemistry between the both of them. While you watch the movie, you can't help but be totally engrossed in it. And the weird thing is, I actually feel that the stuff that has happened to him is somehow relevant to all of us. I think somehow, it a realistic overview of how love is like.
Here is a short synopsis from the IMDB website:
"After it looks as if she's left his life for good this time, Tom Hansen reflects back on the just over one year that he knew Summer Finn. Despite being physically average in almost every respect, Summer had always attracted the attention of men, Tom included. For Tom, it was love at first sight when she walked into the greeting card company where he worked, she was the new administrative assistant. Soon, Tom knew that Summer was the woman with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life. Although Summer did not believe in relationships or boyfriends - in her assertion, real life will always ultimately get in the way - Tom and Summer became more than just friends. Through the trials and tribulations of Tom and Summer's so-called relationship, Tom could always count on the advice of his two best friends, McKenzie and Paul. However, it is Tom's adolescent sister, Rachel, who is his voice of reason. After all is said and done, Tom is the one who ultimately has to make the choice to listen or not."
The movie had some really laugh out loud moments. I cant remember the last time i laughed this loud to a funny scene in the movie, but I guess in our daily lives, we mix the good, funny and bad days together.
Below is the trailer to the movie :-)
I really loved the music in the song. It sets up the mood of the scene to get us into it.
No wonder this movie has been highly regarded in movie festivals and also in countries which it has opened in.
Would I catch this movie again? Definitely! My score? 9/10
GO catch this movie before it goes off the screen!

Far away...
In a land far far away (okay well, its about 5 hours away only), I heard this song. Have not heard it in a while. Was reminded of how nice and meaningful this song is. Absolutely love this song!!
Its by Nickelback and its called Far away. The Music video is ncie as well, but I like the lyrics in particular...
:-)
Enjoy!
This time, This place
Misused, Mistakes
Too long, Too late
Who was I to make you wait
Just one chance
Just one breath
Just in case there's just one left
'Cause you know,
you know, you know
[CHORUS]
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymore
On my knees, I'll ask
Last chance for one last dance
'Cause with you, I'd withstand
All of hell to hold your hand
I'd give it all
I'd give for us
Give anything but I won't give up
'Cause you know,
you know, you know
[CHORUS]
So far away
Been far away for far too long
So far away
Been far away for far too long
But you know, you know, you know
I wanted
I wanted you to stay
'Cause I needed
I need to hear you say
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I forgive you
For being away for far too long
So keep breathing
'Cause I'm not leaving you anymore
Believe it
Hold on to me and, never let me go
Keep breathing
'Cause I'm not leaving you anymore
Believe it
Hold on to me and, never let me go
Keep breathing
Hold on to me and, never let me go
Keep breathing
Hold on to me and, never let me go

Moocake Festival Photo Shooting @ Semenyih Dam
Went on a shoot last sunday night. Almost didnt workout as I didnt have any1 to go with me. Plus its about 40 mins ride from my place into pitch darkness. Thank goodness Eyang and my sister decided to tag along!
The pictures below are pretty much what we got for a 2.5 hour photo outing.
This is what we came for. Unfortunately the moon was blocked by the clouds that night. Still bright pictures as we used about 30 seconds shutter speed.
Can you imagine a better picture if the full moon was out that night? The water will be bathed with the moonlight!!
The left picture is just a picture of the cars passing by my car at night. Can see the reflection on the roof of my car! On the right, its some random light drawing i did after I accidentally pressed the shutter button when i had set it to 15 seconds... Was surprised the result turned out to be so artsy fartsy, LOL!
Doing the "GHOST" picture. Not as romantic shooting this as the Patrick Swayze version. In the left picture, a car drove past while we were in the middle of the shooting while Eyang was busy looking at his pictures in the next pic
Now you know how they make those ghost pictures you regularly receive from your forwarded emails ;-p

These are actually my fave pics of the night.Long shutter speed with the cars just driving past the emergency triangle. Its actually pitch dark that night! Woots!!
Thats my name. The right picture has the reflection of the writing on the roof of my car. We had 3 cameras and 2 tripods. Figure it out!
Names of the 2 accomplices that went with me. Kristine and Eyang

More "ghostly effects". The fun part after shooting the dam. =)
Different focus point of the same view. Taken From lookout point
I Feel like going back there again the next time the full moon comes back on a cloudless night. Its sure gonna be magical pictures. If you wanna join me on the next photo outing, drop me a msg.

Really good and funny read: The Ig Nobel Awards
This is too funny not to be shared with all you guys!! Its the Ig Nobel awards given out prior to the real Nobel awards.

Ig Nobel awards: The gas-mask bra and the power of panda pooBritons gain spoof gongs for studies with more questions than answers
The nation can hold its head up high. Once again, Britons have been honoured in the annual Ig Nobel awards ceremony, the second most important event on the scientific calendar. The Ig Nobels, or Igs, are an annual exercise in irreverence that celebrate research that "cannot, or should not, be repeated". They are given to scientists whose results first make people laugh, and then make them think.
The ceremony took place at Harvard University, with the coveted prizes handed out by real Nobel laureates. This year's recipients were allowed no more than 60 seconds to deliver their acceptance speech, a time limit enforced by an eight-year-old girl.
The event is hosted by the Harvard-based journal Annals of Improbable Research, and is timed to coincide with the far more lucrative and legitimate Nobels, which are due to be announced in Stockholm next week. The Ig Nobel awards were:
Veterinary medicine prize
Catherine Douglas and Peter Rowlinson at Newcastle University's school of agriculture share the award for the groundbreaking discovery that giving cows names such as Daisy increases their milk yield.
"It's the highlight of my career," said Douglas. "The work amused the public, but it addressed a serious issue about the welfare of animals and points to an easy way to improve yields by reducing stress in cattle."
Peace prize
Awarded for research on whether it is better to be smashed over the head with a full beer bottle or an empty one, the prize went to Stephan Bolliger and colleagues at the University of Bern in Switzerland. "Empty beer bottles are sturdier than full ones," the researchers reported. "However, both full and empty bottles are theoretically capable of fracturing the human neurocranium."
Public health prize
Awarded to Elena Bodnar of Hinsdale, Illinois, for patenting a bra that, in an emergency, can be converted into a pair of gas masks, one for the owner and one for a needy bystander. "It was inspired by the Chernobyl nuclear accident," said Bodnar, who is originally from Ukraine. "This way, the mask is always readily available."
Medicine prize
To Donald Unger, a doctor in Thousand Oaks, California, who cracked the knuckles of his left hand, but never those on his right, every day for 60 years to investigate whether it caused arthritis. Unger, now 83, told the Guardian: "After 60 years, I looked at my knuckles and there's not the slightest sign of arthritis. I looked up to the heavens and said: 'Mother, you were wrong, you were wrong, you were wrong.' "
Chemistry prize
Javier Morales shares the award with two colleagues at the National University of Mexico for turning the national drink, tequila, into diamonds. Thin films of diamond were produced by heating 80%-proof tequila blanco in a pressure vessel.
Physics prize
Awarded to Katherine Whitcome at the University of Cincinnati and colleagues for a detailed explanation of why pregnant women do not topple over. "Pregnancy presents an enormous challenge for the female body," Whitcome explained. "It turns out that enhanced curvature and reinforcement of the lower spine are key to maintaining normal activities during pregnancy."
Biology prize
Fumiaki Taguchi, Song Guofu and Zhang Guanglei of Kitasato University graduate school of medical sciences in Japan share the prize for demonstrating that kitchen waste can be reduced by more than 90% by using bacteria extracted from giant panda excrement. Taguchi suspected panda faeces must contain bacteria capable of breaking down even the hardiest of foods because of the bear's vast consumption of bamboo.
Mathematics prize
Awarded to Gideon Gono, governor of Zimbabwe's Reserve Bank, for giving people a simple way of dealing with a wide range of numbers. Gono ordered his bank to print notes with denominations ranging from one cent to one hundred trillion dollars.
Literature prize
Awarded to the entire police force of Ireland for issuing more than 50 penalties to a man they supposed to be the most persistent driving offender in the country: a Mr Prawo Jazdy, whose name in Polish means "driver's licence". An investigation held earlier this year revealed officers had mistakenly taken down the wrong details from motorists' documents.
Economics prize
Awarded to the directors, executives and auditors of four Icelandic banks: Kaupthing bank, Landsbanki, Glitnir bank and Central Bank of Iceland, "for demonstrating that tiny banks can be rapidly transformed into huge banks, and vice versa – and for demonstrating that similar things can be done to an entire national economy".

Signs by Patrick Hughes
This is one of the short films that won the Cannes Lion Award in this year's Cannes Movie Festival.
I really love the fact that so much emotion can be conveyed without words.
I guess somethings like love are supposed to be simple and we just complicate it by saying or doing the wrong things at the wrong time. It should just be this simple.
I was very moved by the ending of the movie. Great stuff!! Enjoy!!

Oh it's a singalong song that's not too long; It's when I think about you that I hear songs
To those who know what the title means, then you already know what this post is about.
I'm currently digging this song by Khalil Fong, called Sing Along Song.
It has a very jazzy tune to it. although I do feel the lyrics is a bit off, but I get what the singer is trying to convey. Its the melody and the mood of the song that really appeals to me.
Enjoy!
Lyrics:
I wrote this song it's not too long
cos' I've been thinking 'bout you
I wrote this song maybe I'm wrong
To be caught up about you
Well I dont know what you think 'bout me
Maybe you think nothing at all
But maybe you could just lie to me
And we could be in love you see
Oh it's a singalong song that's not too long
It's when I think about you that I hear songs
And you can singalong maybe if you want to
Cos' baby I wrote this I wrote this for you
I wrote this song it's not too long
Cos' I'm the one who loves you
I wrote this song this can't be wrong
I don't wanna smile without you
Well I just want to make you happy
but maybe you want nothing at all
and how I wish that you're meant to be
forever and a day with me
Oh it's a singalong song that's not too long
It's when I think about you that I hear songs
And you can singalong maybe if you want to
Cos' baby I wrote this I wrote this for you
In everyway you mean more to me
than you'll ever know
girl I'll do my best to show these words are true
and if you'd like to make a song
and be a perfect harmony with me
I'd find the greatest words sing
so we could write our own romance
Oh it's a singalong song that's not too long
It's when I think about you that I hear songs
And you can singalong maybe if you want to
Cos' baby I wrote this I wrote this for you
